Okay, call me crazy, but I need a project.  Seriously!  I should have gone into architecture or construction because I like building things… that is, I like managing building things.  Anyway, we have thought for a long time about building a “barn / workshop” so that we can relocate our “stuff” and have a place […]

Now that we’re back, and before my feet hit the pavement, I’ve decided to spend a little time reflecting on this trip of ours.  Certainly it was special to be with family and friends… and giving the kids new memories of places they’ve never been was a bonus, but for me the time spent away […]

We are all having a blast playing in the snow!  I’m coming to terms with the fact that my kids are showing me up on the ski slopes this year!  The views are awesome… takes my breath away.  Sometimes I feel compelled to simply lie down and make snow angles.  Enjoy!

This is the view from my children’s classrooms.  I often wonder what it would be like to go to school here.  I imagine myself sitting here eating my mid-morning snack and looking at this giant Banyan tree, listening to the mynah birds chatter and watching the wind toss the leaves around.  With the recent rains, […]

To answer a question, we are using Yudu screen printing ink.  I’m hesitant to put the link here because I purchased this stuff in a local craft store in town not online.  But a simple search is all that’s needed.  Amazon carries the ink and supplies if you want to explore the world of screen […]

I’ve been busy these past few days… busy at work, that is.  Since I’m a nurse and I work in a hospital, I can’t really show you a shot of my life at work, but I can show you a picture of my other workplace – my studio.  Enjoy… and eat your vegetables for goodness […]

For another classroom project, the kids are making a quilt to be auctioned off at a fundraiser.  The teacher and I thought it would be good to incorporate their study of native Hawaiian plants into this project, so we are doing leaf prints on fabric.  I was unsure about how this would go over, this […]

Seems like a pattern… every year this time of year is a little tough for me.  Last year, feeling a little “off” I wrote about it here.  Now, thanks to a series of cold windy storms that have blown through, and the chill in my core that has taken hold, I’m left wondering when will […]

You may have noticed I changed my profile picture.  I did it because I realized I had no reference to the fact that I consider myself a quilt artist as well as a photographer, and I want to convey this at first glance to those who stumble upon my site.  So I spent a few […]

Today I’m filled with gratitude for a blogging friend that I met in person recently… Deborah.  I’ve long admired Deborah’s art, the sheer variety of interesting details she adds in and the freedom much of her work contains.  Not only that, she too is struggling to juggle her life as wife, mother and artist… so […]
