A Tribute

Ugh,  where do I begin with this one?  Usually, right about now, I’d be telling you all sorts of stuff about my travels to Ohio and Nancy Crow’s workshop… or celebrating this lovely month of May with the flowers blooming and the splendid Jacaranda trees lighting up the landscape in rich tones of purple… or...

Robin,
So sorry to hear about your dad. You can tell he was a great guy by the way you describe your life on your blog. Especially with your family. Find peace in the way you live the rest of your life to it’s fullest.

Cathy BertanzetitiMay 13, 2010 - 4:40 pm

My thoughts are with you, what an unbelievable loss, no words can capture this, losing your dad. I lost my Mom March 10th, what an incredible gift she was to me. Be gentle with yourself, breathe, let the tears fall as they come, breathe some more. You will never stop grieving, but the grieving will change over time.
Blessings!

Robin…my condolences. there are, for me, no other words.

The fabric…

Not my fabric… just a shot I couldn’t resist.  After dinner one evening, I was struck by the how the light from the setting sun cast it’s long rays over this set of fabrics.  It was a particularly beautiful moment.I had forgotten to snap a picture of all my fabric before I zipped up my...

Seeing the photo brings back such GOOD memories of past classes at the barn. I look forward to hearing your thoughts about your week. Doing an independent study sounds very intense. Did you have daily discussions? Critique at the end? The learning experience in class with Nancy has been so thought provoking for me, I end up absorbing for months before realization and application finally touch my fingers and fabric. Nancy is THE teacher I most appreciate and admire. Lucky you!!!! Share please!! Liz

mmmm….look at all that fabric – yummm! I especially love the blues between the reds and purples, do you remember which dyes you were using for those? To my eye they don’t look like something I’d get with either turquoise or intense blue/cerulean (prochem/Dharma)which are my go to blues! Can’t wait to hear more about your trip!

cathi boerioMay 11, 2010 - 3:43 am

Robin—-130 colors!!!! Amazing! You are a dyeing wonder!!! Hope you’re going to do some extra, so I can buy some! I’m sure you had a truly creative time with Nancy Crow–can’t wait to hear all about it!

Sometimes I feel like there are never enough colors of fabric or thread, but that is a lovely group you’ve got there.

Home again, home again…

An early memory of mine was my parents singing, “Home again, Home again, Jiggity Jig” when we pulled up to our parking space in the military housing we used to live in when I was little.  I remember that.  I often think of that little phrase when I return home… like today for instance.  It...

So surreal to read this – yesterday when I got home I thought of that rhyme for the first time in years and years and said it aloud as I unlocked the door.
so. freaky.

Burning the Midnight Oil

Well, it’s not quite midnight, but I am working hard in my class. I have so much to tell you, and the scenery here is breathtaking, but it’s late and I do need to get some rest. My posts this week will have to wait… Wish I had more time… Wish I had better pictures....

Robin–I am truly inspired by your creativity and courage to pursue your dream. Your work is amazing. Yes, get some sleep, but otherwise just simply absorb as much as you possibly can during your workshops. I can’t wait to see what you create; you are enormously talented! Go for it!!!
P.S. You’ve inspired me to get back into piecing. Thanks, and have fun.
