Great News!

My piece “Elements #28″ was selected for Art Maui 2011! According to the website: 377 artists registered 592 works. 138 works were selected, by 125 artists. It’s never easy to write a bio… I feel like writing “Robin Ferrier is an artist that never got used to writing in the third person”… but each time...

Classroom Projects continued

The tops are nearly done!  I’ve pieced together 24 blocks from each class and when finished they will each fit a twin bed perfectly.  I hung them in the classrooms briefly today so that the kids could admire their work: Of course being at this stage meant I simply HAD to go fabric shopping!  It...

Hi, Robin! Thank goodness Fat Quarterly led me to you- your work is so inspiring. I, too, made a quilt for a school auction a couple of years back. I had the kids (Nursery students) put their handprints on the fabric. This project of yours looks much more involved- I can’t wait to read back through the archives and find out what your process was!

JeannieFebruary 26, 2011 - 9:10 am

Robin, the classroom project is wonderful! I love the fabrics you picked out and I am sure the quilt will be a huge draw. Congrats to you and the students.

{The Unexpected}

I’ve spent so much time lately thinking, doing, and organizing for others that I had completely forgotten about last night.  All of a sudden the evening was upon me and I found myself at a “thank you” party for artists who submitted to this year’s Art Affair… thee big fundraiser for our local art center....

so thrilled for you that you came away from that event feeling so inspired. if artists like you continue to create with such pure intention, they also continue to inspire others to create. thank you and congratulations on a successful showing!
i’m off to take my oldest daughter (6) on her first visit to our local art museum! she currently wants to be an artist when she “grows up”. we always tell her, she already is!

Congratulations, Robin! It takes such courage to put yourself out in the world in the form of art. I applaud you!

Another quilter turned painter! You should really check out the daily painting workshop I’m hosting.

You are a master colorist Robin and I am sure will do well with whatever form of art you pursue. This looks like a nice confirmation for you and a nice event. I have always enjoyed your quilts and your blog!

Gail BaarFebruary 24, 2011 - 7:11 am

Good luck in whatever direction you take, Robin, you are very talented.

Krista - PoppyprintFebruary 24, 2011 - 7:08 am

Thanks for sharing your feelings – you are not alone, that is for sure. The show looks great and your piece right at home with all of the others. Congratulations!

Classroom Projects Continued…

I’m nearly finished with piecing together the classroom quilts and they are looking fabulous!  I can only hope the quilting goes quickly as well!  I’ll continue to post pictures of my progress for you here, but the text will have to be lacking for the next few days.  By the way, I brought my little...
