We finished two of those Hospital quilts… and the top to the third.  I’d like to thank Donna, Joan, Dianna, Barbara, Dr. Baker and Wendy for all your support and help with this!  I really could not have done this without you!  Last Friday, the hospital celebrated Christmas and their 60th anniversary.  They decorated the […]

I had a slight panic today… the power went out.  Thankfully, they’re back on now and I’ve had a full morning here in the studio… just me and my elves.  I’m certain that at least two will be finished by tomorrow.  If I’m lucky we might finish the third.  I’m not taking bets tho.

Things are moving along in this workshop of mine… oh, how I feel like an elf right now.  Outside its a sunny and gusty day, yet in here things are calm.  The three quilts are in various stages of completion… thanks to the help of two angels who showed up on my doorstep last night! […]

I’m starting new work today… not my usual stuff, a commission for the hospital.  I’m not entirely looking forward to this project but I said I’d do it and I’m gonna see this through.  Years ago, I made a quilt for the hospital.  Twenty units got together and each came up with a 12″ square […]

I’ve been consumed this week with the final stages of planning for a large event here on Maui.  I’m the chair of the 8th annual “gala” fundraiser for the Pacific Cancer Foundation.  Needless to say I’m not sleeping much.  It’s all good though; I’m learning a lot and meeting many new people.  I don’t have […]

I’ve been talking to painters lately and my enthusiasm for the medium is renewed. Yesterday evening I noticed the golden yellows and browns that fell on the landscape at sunset.  The vog has been particularly heavy lately, thus filtering sunlight and creating dramatic effects with golden hues falling on every surface. So inspired I was […]
