squint

Progress is being made on my latest.  I’m beginning to infuse goodness and well wishes into the seams. It’s for a baby, you see and I’m ever mindful of the blessing the children can be. This isn’t it – it’s a washed out version of it… but you get the picture. I’ve heard it said...

I just wanted to say that this quilt is beautiful! And I really love your blog too. I visited Maui back in October and it is thrilling and refreshing to see the island through non-tourist eyes via your blog. Thank you for sharing all that you do.

A Different View

I had lunch with one of my favorite teachers today, Dick Nelson who teaches color classes as originated by Joseph Albers.  You’ve seen Dick’s videos here before… they are VERY educational… if not check them out here: Colorwheel, Color Mixing, Color Arrays, Color is Relative, Color Luminosity, and his latest, is one I’ve embedded for...

Hi Robin!

Dick sent me your blog site because he thougt I might like to read it. You certainly expressed well how we all feel about Dick’s mentorship in our artistic pursuits. I’m sure you enjoyed your day with him. He is really a very special man.

We were in his class together. I only live on Maui in the winter and hence I’m in our main residence in Ottawa, Canada right now.

Happy quilting and thanks for sharing,
Bonnie

Color Video

My color teacher Dick Nelson made this video explaining very visually the concepts of tone, tint and shade.  Never again will you be confused!  This should be required watching material for anybody taking a color class.  Thanks Dick!  Enjoy! 3D Colorwheel from Richard (Dick) Nelson on Vimeo.

In the past I’ve used Kauffman PFD Pimatex, but recently I switched to testfabrics 400M. I talked a little about how I came to that decision here: http://www.simplyrobin.com/2011/05/09/back-in-black/

Hi Robin,
What brand of muslin do you use to dye your fabric?
Thanks,
Karen
