I’ve been talking to painters lately and my enthusiasm for the medium is renewed. Yesterday evening I noticed the golden yellows and browns that fell on the landscape at sunset.  The vog has been particularly heavy lately, thus filtering sunlight and creating dramatic effects with golden hues falling on every surface. So inspired I was […]

Our third day of painting class was spent in two locations.  First we worked on painting architecture by selecting one of three old plantation-style houses to paint.  I forgot to take pictures so unfortunately I cannot show you the house I tried to depict.  Filled with self-doubt, I was able to get the structure drafted […]

Ahhhh, today was a wonderful day for me!  I spent the day in class painting Plein Air and although I didn’t finish anything, I learned a lot.  In the morning we went to the north shore where we had the comfort of shade from beach growth as the sun shone brightly.  I loved being there… […]

Just a few shots from a Plein Air Painting class I took today in Heritage Park in Wailuku.    I wish I had more time to blog about this… I could tell you how my mind swirled as new connections were made, or all about our fabulous teacher Julie, or about how lovely the grounds […]

Wearing pajamas until noon… or later. Rolling yarn into balls… round and round… quietly and quickly.  Making crochet hats in different sizes. Visiting a scenic mountain side.  Flying airplanes while thick clouds roll in. Snapping pictures of this amazing place.  Noticing how the mist changes everything.  Feeling romantic and inspired. First, to celebrate the equinox I changed my banner!  Yay! Looking at these two side-by-side I realize now that I’ve forgotten several of the things Julie taught me.  Still, my tangerine turned out pretty well!  Although it’s slightly egg-shaped… ahem.   Maybe I’ll paint an egg next and just get it over with!

Alright, now some of you have heard me talk about how I want to learn how to paint.  I think I said that at the beginning of the year. Maybe?  Ahem, well time flies doesn’t it!  With the kids back in school and things returning to our school-year routine, I figured it’s a good time […]

We spent the weekend in Hana… one of Hawaii’s best kept secrets.  It was the perfect way to launch our spring vacation; we spent time by the beach, we relaxed and we took walks around town… just to take it all in.  The fresh air smell and cool ocean breeze was refreshing.  The warm sun […]
