Panoramic

Goodness, I love this app!  It’s called Pano and it transforms my phone into a panoramic camera by splicing together a series of photos taken from one vantage point.  It’s so easy to use, I simply shoot, rotate, shoot, rotate… and so on.  Check out this amazing photo I took yesterday while watching the setting...

totally downloading this app right now!! Thanks!

PattyApril 5, 2011 - 2:26 am

I saw that ap listed on the iTunes web site and was intrigued. Now that I see how it comes together, I’m going to hop over there and make a purchase. Thanks! And Apple thanks you as well!

I would be afraid of using that ap in my work space…only to expand the mess! Scarry. LOL. It is amazing how technology is becoming user friendly.

Oh! Gotta try this – really cool.

Soggy Maui Coast

Thank you folks for your concern… we are safe and sound here on Maui.  Our house is well up the mountain so really we’ve been safe all along.  Just the same, it’s nice that you would think of me on a day like this.  My daughter and I had to run some errands down the...

I’m so very glad to hear that you are all OK – I kept visiting here of Friday for news but didn’t get on the PC yesterday unfortunately, I hope all your friends on the islands are OK too.
It’s such a sad and distressing time – mother nature is really flexing her muscles at the moment ;-(

JeannieMarch 12, 2011 - 4:53 pm

Thank you for letting us know you are ok. When I heard the news I thought of you and Kristin and hoped that all was well. Mother Nature is beautiful, but when she shows her might, it can get pretty darn scary.

DeborahMarch 12, 2011 - 9:26 am

So glad you and your family are well. We were praying here in GA.

I’m so glad to hear you and yours are safe and well.

Even after seeing so many pictures, it is still hard for me to wrap my mind around that much water.

PattyMarch 12, 2011 - 5:05 am

You were among my first concerns. It’s so good to know you’re safe. Please let us know how things go for your and the other islands.

Monica DunkleyMarch 12, 2011 - 1:07 am

glad to hear you’re ok and there hasn’t been too much damage.

Such a terrible thing in Japan.

Candy from Candied FabricsMarch 11, 2011 - 8:15 pm

When hearing the news today my thoughts did go to you and your family – so happy to hear all is well, in the midst of such sadness!

Nighttime Photography

A streetlamp went off just behind me between these two shots… which one do you like better?

I like the purply color in the second one — nice compliment to teh golden grasses.

Viola QueenMarch 11, 2011 - 1:37 pm

Hope you and your family are not affected by the tsunami. I like the first photo best.

LynnMarch 11, 2011 - 11:52 am

First one.

Diana AngusMarch 11, 2011 - 11:33 am

Our family is hoping that you, your family, friends and community are not put at risk by the tsunami. Your post is beautiful!

JanMarch 11, 2011 - 7:21 am

I like the top one, best.

Krista - PoppyprintMarch 11, 2011 - 6:59 am

I like the top photo – the charcoal sky appeals to me more than the purpley one in the bottom photo. Interesting differences, though!

Debbie-Esch House QuiltsMarch 11, 2011 - 3:47 am

I like the top one best. The focus is more on the moon and the town and not on the bright grasses in the foreground.

DeborahMarch 11, 2011 - 2:59 am

I like the glow in the foreground of the second one, yet I don’t think you really lose any of the beauty of the sky and cityscape. Lovely! Which do YOU like better?

MollyMarch 11, 2011 - 1:58 am

I can’t explain why, but I like the first one better.

Strawberries

I’ve been eating so many berries lately, I’m going to attract bears.  No, those aren’t my hands… but the tiffany blue looks cool with that fire-engine red!

I’ve been picking up Ulupalakua strawberries at Mana this week. YUM!!

Simply Robin Greeting Cards

First, I’d like to thank all of you who have been kind enough to leave comments these past days.  Venturing into new territory can be frightening and it helps to know that despite my trials and tribulations, you are right there with me urging me along.  I’m taking a little bit of a break from...

Thank you so much Tammy for your words of encouragement. Who knows! Maybe I’ll be at a point someday that I can seek out local shops… it certainly would be a thrill to sell them locally!

And Daphne, I’m going to post your pictures today… they are fabulous! Thank you for sending them to me and keep me posted on your progress!

TammyJanuary 14, 2011 - 6:06 am

That is very exciting. If you enjoy doing this, you might want to consider going into some speciality shops, like wine shops, to see if they’d be interested in taking them on. There are several places here where I live who do it on consignment. Good Luck! :)

YOU GO GIRL!!!

Me, I picked up a Michael James book at the Maui Quilt Guild for $1. Well actually I was so I-rate that they were selling these books for $1 I gave them $10 and took 3 books.
Jeeze, did I luck out. Quilt National & Robert Shaw’s Quilts a Living Tradition– something like $150 worth of books…

So I’ve been sort of obsessed with Michael James, whom I tried to imitate [not exactly] in the 1980′s and gave up, because I don’t sew THAT straight, and I hate ironing all seams open [do you do that?, I don't] and one thing & another suddenly I am cutting bazillion strips 1.5 inches wide and sewing them together into new ‘cloths’ and going from there.

And since you have been generous & humble about stumbling around in the deep zones of prayer flags, I’ll share my first two efforts in this zone. I gave up pressing open after 2 seams.
